The Luxe

Title: The Luxe
Series: The Luxe #1
Author: Anna Godbersen
Format: E-book, 433 pages
Rating: 4.5 stars
Recommend it to?: Gossip Girl Fans

MY Review: If you loved Gossip Girl, you will like this!

I very much enjoyed reading this, it was a nice light read. The twist in the end was very nice :] now i very badly need to know what happens next!

The Evolution of Mara Dyer

Title: The Evolution of Mara Dyer
Series: Mara Dyer #2
Author: Michelle Hodkin
Format: Hardback, 528 pages
Rating: 5 stars!
Recommend it to?: Anyone who likes a good ghost story :]

My Review: HOLY BALLS!!

This book was crazy.

I read this over a course of 4hrs, i just couldn't put it down. So many twists and turns and just OMG!

I need the next one now!!!!!!

2015 Reading Goals

Well i've been really thinking of what goals i should be trying to work towards next year and i've come up with this so far :]
These are in no order at all!

1. Read a total of 150 books :]
i'm at 124 right now so i'm sure i can do it :]

2. Read 10 non-fiction books!
i know there are some good ones out there so i want to see if i can find some :]

3. Read and Review at least 3 ARCs every month!
i am like up to 70 ARCs awaiting me and i feel bad so i want to tackle them and i want to get more and better ones in the future :]

4. Read 10 books from genres i really don't read from :]
i tend to stick to just one genre and there are so many more out there, i'm gonna dip into historical fiction and chick lit.

5. Join and finish at least 2 challenges on Goodreads each month!
I've been doing alright on my few challenges i have done, and i've read and found some good books from those. and i've meet some great book lovers along the way too, so i want more of that :]

I'm just gonna aim for these goals and see where i can end up :]

Do you like my goals?? Do you have any planned already??

Isla and the Happily Ever After

Title: Isla and the Happily Ever After
Series: Anna and the French Kiss #3
Author: Stephanie Perkins
Format: Hardback, 352 pages
Rating: 3.75 stars
Recommend it to?: Again anyone who liked the ones before this :]

My Review: As much as i wanted to like this one as well as the others, i just couldn't.

This story was so not okay with me. First, why did Isla suddenly freak out so badly on Josh?! she went all crazy eye and lashed out!

i just had trouble believing this story.

Overall, it was okay, not great thou.

Lola and the Boy Next Door

Title: Lola and the Boy Next Door
Series: Anna and the French Kiss #2
Author: Stephanie Perkins
Format: Hardback, 338 pages
Rating: 4.25 stars
Recommend it to?: Anyone who loved the first book!

My Review: I liked this book almost as much as the first. Thou i did have some issues:

her relationship with her "best friend" was barely there at all. if it was her best friend why did she spend more time with Cricket than she ever did with her!?

how her parents acted towards Cricket bothered me too, why would you pretty much encourage your daughter to see someone behind their boyfriend's back!?

the end wrapped up way too quickly for my liking, most of the book was drawing out shiz and then the end was just quick, maybe that's just how i feel though.

Overall, i liked this book, just had slight issues. :]

The Testing

Title: The Testing
Series: The Testing #1
Author: Joelle Charbonneau
Format: Hardback, 336 pages
Rating: 5 stars!
Recommend it to?: Hunger Games fans.

My Review: i loved this book from the first few pages.

yes this book is very much like the Hunger Games, i understand some people's angry about it's just like it. i do see how they think that, am i angry about it? no. the story may follow kinda the same thing but there is much more to it and honestly minus a few details, all 3 hunger games books are pretty much the same story anyhow so you shouldn't get so mad about this.

I'm happy about the strong female main character, Cia. She's amazing. She does make mistakes but learns. The love story part was a little forced i think, but at least it wasn't the main story line.

Overall, i really liked this book and i like how the story went.

Anna and the French Kiss

Title: Anna and the French Kiss
Series: Anna and the French Kiss #1
Author: Stephanie Perkins
Format: Hardback, 372 pages
Rating: 4.25 stars
Recommend it to?: those in need of a light, romantic read!

My Review: I usually don't read books likes Anna, i usually stay away from any book where the main theme is love. I just don't like how far fetched most of them are or the main girl is a horrible role model. But this book was very good :]

I did have trouble finishing this in the past, i usually always got to 40% and just forgot about it, but once i got my hands on the hardback, i was hooked at the 45% mark and couldn't put it down!

Overall this was a light, romantic read and i enjoyed it :]

Prince of Wolves

Title: Prince of Wolves
Series: The Grey Wolves #1
Author: Quinn Loftis
Format: Kindle Cloud Reader
Rating: .75 stars
Recommend to?: NO ONE!!!!

Goodread's Bio: Jacque Pierce was just an ordinary 17-year-old girl getting ready to start her senior year in high school in Coldspring, Texas. When a mysterious foreign exchange student from Romania moves in across the street, Jacque and her two best friends, Sally and Jen, don't realize the last two weeks of their summer are going to get a lot more interesting.

From the moment Jacque sets eyes on Fane she feels an instant connection, a pull like a moth to a flame. Little does she know that the flame she is drawn to is actually a Canis lupis, werewolf, and she just happens to be his mate; the other half of his soul.

My Review: I'll try to be as nice as i can about this book, but seeing as how i feel the need to jump ahead in my review backlog to do this book should scream red flags

RED FLAG #1: It comes off as written by maybe a 14yr old girl who says ya and ya'll a lot!!!

RED FLAG #2: Main character starts hearing voices and isn't even concerned!

RED FLAG #3: Main character then tells 2 best friends about voice, still no one is concerned!!!

RED FLAG #4: Foreign exchange student moves in across street and main character then realizes it's him talking to her in her mind and talks back, STILL NO ONE SEEMS CONCERNED!!!

RED FLAG #5: Foreign exchange student tells main character he's a werewolf and she's his mate, NO CONCERN, JUST ACCEPTANCE!!

RED FLAG #6: Foreign exchange student tells host family he's a werewolf, JUST ACCEPTANCE!!!!!

WTH!!!! and that's all in the first like half of the book. There's only one main event in this book and that's all they talked about for 30% of the book. Then said even happens near the 90% mark, it's not very eventful at all. Then they live happily ever after.

I really can't see how this series can be 8 books, nor do i understand how most of the books rating are over 4 stars! i just don't understand.

Overall, unless you're a 12 yr old Texas girl who wants to read someone else's diary, stay away!

While We Run

Title: While We Run
Series: When We Wake #2
Author: Karen Healey
Format: Hardback, 336 pages
Rating: 4.25 stars
Recommend it to: Science Fiction fans :]

Goodread's Bio: Abdi Taalib thought he was moving to Australia for a music scholarship. But after meeting the beautiful and brazen Tegan Oglietti, his world was turned upside down. Tegan's no ordinary girl - she died in 2027, only to be frozen and brought back to life in Abdi's time, 100 years later.

Now, all they want is for things to return to normal (or as normal as they can be), but the government has other ideas. Especially since the two just spilled the secrets behind Australia's cryonics project to the world. On the run, Abdi and Tegan have no idea who they can trust, and when they uncover startling new details about Project Ark, they realise thousands of lives may be in their hands

My review:
Wow. This was a perfect sequel, it flowed perfect from the first book.

This one thou is from Abdi's POV, which was awesome. I loved seeing his view on the issues and how he saw the others.

The action is this book was sick, in a good way :] there was lots of it and i loved it all.

The plot twist was nice :] and now i badly need to see how this series will end.

The only issue i had was that i wish there was more of a development in Abdi and Tegan's relationship.

Night of the Purple Moon

Title: Night of the Purple Moon
Series: Toucan #1
Author: Scott Cramer
Format: Kindle Cloud, 187 pages
Rating: 4.5 Stars
Time to Read: About 3hrs
Recommend it to: End of the world fans!

Goodread's Bio: Abby, 13, is looking forward to watching the moon turn purple, unaware that bacteria from a passing comet will soon kill off older teens and adults. She must help her brother and baby sister survive in this new world, but all the while she has a ticking time bomb inside of her--adolescence.

My Review:
This book is great! i was hooked from the started and was on the edge of my seat for the majority of the story!

Comet passes over and releases a deadly pathogen into the air and kills everyone over puberty age! Great! :]

I loved how it showed so far into the future and how they were dealing. It really could've easily be a 400 page book!!!

What Up Wednesday? :]

I'm already over this "winter"

Here's how my week is going so far :]

The Luxe - 50% done, liking it, but i'm hoping for some pick up soon.

While We Run - 30% shiz went down and i'm pretty in to this book, i just was reading The Luxe this morning instead.

How is your week going?? Anyone doing anything fun??

Swagbucks

I'm not sure how many of you already know about swagbucks but for those of you who don't, they're awesome :]

All you have to do is watch a few videos, and not even watch them all the way, just the first 30seconds or so, and you get 3 swagbucks for every 10 videos. it takes me maybe 5mins to do that, and i do it while i'm doing this :]

You can answer the daily poll for 1 swagbuck every day.

You can search the web using it too and get some bucks that way too. i just have it set up to search for 9gag as my home page on my phone so every time i open a new window it searches and i usually get 6 or 8 swagbucks every day for just that :]

So why should you be doing this?!

For every 450 swagbucks you can get a $5 amazon giftcard and you can buy a book or two :]

And if you're awesome enough and use my refer link:

I earn 10% of what you earn, and if i get more giftcards, i can start doing giveaways which you can win :]

(You can win other giftcards not just Amazon, Wal-mart, Target, Starbucks, CVS, and Burger King are a few other)

Thank you for reading :] i usually hate to do this but i feel like it'll be good to share even if you don't use my refer link :]

2015 Goals

A lot of things have changed in the past year for me :]

I started this blog and it's really been taking off for me

I really wanted to branch out and i feel like i'm well on my way :]

This year i mainly just had the goal of reading 100 books, which i did :]

But for next year i want to have at least 5 goals!

First will be just the amount of books i want to read, i wanted to aim high and go with 200 but i don't want to feel stressed like crazy, so i'm aiming for the middle.

2015 Total Books Read Goal is 150 books :]

I have no clue what my other goals should be :/

What kind of goals have you set for yourself in 2014?? Did you accomplish them yet??

Do you have any goals for 2015 already?? I need ideas :]

Weekday Wrap Up

I had a busy week last week.
So here's how i did:

1. Through the Zombie Glass - hoping to finish this, it's so good :] I got more of this read by not finished :/

2. World After - i know i can finish this, i read the 1st book in a few hours FINISHED

3. Ashes - the story is so good, i just need to push myself to read it. i'm not in the mood for an e-book and it's an e-book. I didn't get a chance to finish this before it had to go back, i liked it lots thou so i'm gonna wait to get the hardback from the library :]

4. Brew - Read to Review book, i'm very excited about it! FINISHED

Overall a good week, just not what i hoped :]

Did you guys get your reading done?? Read anything worth recommending to me?? :]

It's seriously 31 degrees out, but feels like 20 degrees!

Perfect weather for reading :]

My goals for this weekend:

World After

Title: World After
Series: Penryn & the End of Days #2
Author: Susan Ee
Format: Hardback, 314 pages
Rating: 4.75 starts
Time to Read: 4 days
Recommend it to?: EVERYONE! seriously, read this!

My Review: This one was just as amzing as the 1st one!

Action after action!

I loved how Penryn and Pookey Bear's relationship got crazy strong and they started seeing things together :]

I just love this series and i need the 3rd one right now!!!!!

Brew

I receive a free copy of this in exchange for an honest review

Title: Brew
Series: Salem's Revenge #1
Author: David Estes
Format: PDF file, 454 pages
Rating: 4.75 stars
Time to Read: 2 days
Recommend it to?: Anyone who likes reading about bad witches getting their butts kicked!

My Review: OH MY GOODNESS!!!

I couldn't put this down at all, i put off work for this book! i just kept turning the page!

Plot:We humans fear things we can't explain, and instead of embracing, we destroy. Salem's Return, humans killing "witches" without any proper evidence. Well the real witches in the world didn't like that too much, so they fight back. Salem's Revenge, all the different witches and warlocks gang up to destroy humans. They do a pretty good job of whipping out a good majority of us in a single day. Rhett Carter's family is killed and he becomes a witch hunter.

Main Characters:

Rhett: The whole story is told from Rhett POV. He's a book blogger :] so that scores some points with me! He's also a jock, football player! He's a bit of a coward in the beginning but the world makes hard.

Laney: She's amazing. She doesn't take shiz from anyone and says whatever the heck she wants! All she cares about is her sisters safety and maybe Rhett towards the end :] she's my witch killing side kick :]

Overall: This is a must read and everyone needs to read this!! it's filled with action and love :]

Happy Thursday

To Be Read Thursday

I keep seeing this series EVERYWHERE!!!

Anyone read it yet?? i wants!!!

What Up Wednesday

What up Wednesday :]

I've been slowing making my way through Through the Zombie Glass, its getting so good :]

I'm still not really in the mood to read any e-book right now so Ashes is suffering :/

World After is AMAZING :] i'm trying to not finish it so i can savor it :]

How is your guys week going??

Angelfall

Title: Angelfall
Series: Penryn & the End of Days #1
Author: Susan EE
Format: Hardback, 238 pages
Rating: 5 stars!
Time to Read: a few hours!!
Recommend It To: Anyone who loves a strong female main character and a story about angels :]

Goodread's Bio: It's been six weeks since angels of the apocalypse descended to demolish the modern world. Street gangs rule the day while fear and superstition rule the night. When warrior angels fly away with a helpless little girl, her seventeen-year-old sister Penryn will do anything to get her back.

Anything, including making a deal with an enemy angel.

Raffe is a warrior who lies broken and wingless on the street. After eons of fighting his own battles, he finds himself being rescued from a desperate situation by a half-starved teenage girl.

Traveling through a dark and twisted Northern California, they have only each other to rely on for survival. Together, they journey toward the angels' stronghold in San Francisco where she'll risk everything to rescue her sister and he'll put himself at the mercy of his greatest enemies for the chance to be made whole again.

My Review:
This shall be short and sweet!

HOLY CRAP!!!

This book was so good!

Angels attacking us and stealing little kids for gosh knows what!!

I devoured this book and i just loved it!!

I started World After as soon as i finished this and am already in love with it as well :

Alice in Zombieland

Title: Alice in Zombieland
Series: The White Rabbit Chronicles #1
Author: Gena Showalter
Format: Hardback, 404 pages
Rating: 4.75 stars
Team Cole or Justin: Cole
Time to Read: 2 days!
Recommend to: anyone who loves a good zombie book :]

Goodread's Bio: Had anyone told Alice Bell that her entire life would change course between one heartbeat and the next, she would have laughed. From blissful to tragic, innocent to ruined? Please. But that’s all it took. One heartbeat. A blink, a breath, a second, and everything she knew and loved was gone.

Her father was right. The monsters are real….

To avenge her family, Ali must learn to fight the undead. To survive, she must learn to trust the baddest of the bad boys, Cole Holland. But Cole has secrets of his own, and if Ali isn’t careful, those secrets might just prove to be more dangerous than the zombies….

My Review: First, i knew going into this that this is NOT a retelling of Alice in Wonderland plus zombies!!! i read a lot of negative reviews where they mainly gave it 1/2 stars because they were misled. all i had to do was read the inside little bio and knew it wasn't anything related to Alice in Wonderland.

Top 3 Main Characters for me:
Alice: The whole story is told from Alice's POV. I love Alice. She speaks to me! She's sassy and has the best come backs. She's well written and i connected with her quickly.

Cole: Hulky heartthrob! i had a love/hate relationship with him the whole book. he's the leader of the zombie hunting group. everyone in school is afraid of him, every girl wants in his pants. yuck. i dislike characters written like that so i had a hard time liking him. But towards the end, he really opened up and i grew to like him.

Kat: i love Kat!!! i need her as my best friend in real like. she suffers though some bad stuff but is always looking on the bright side and is always there for Alice!

Plot: Alice's dad is crazy, claiming he sees monsters everywhere and doesn't let his family out after the sun goes down. On Alice's birthday, her sister Emma has a dance recital and Alice convinces her dad to let them go out after dark to see it. (view spoiler)

Alice begins to see the same monsters her dad saw and she learns there are others like her. She joins them and learns she's a pretty badbutt person compared to them :]

Overall:this book is badbutt! i loved every minute of it! i'm greatly looking forward to reading the next in the series :]

Let's Talk Books

I used to do one book at a time, but i felt trapped in a book and i just randomly decided to try two at a time, and i haven't looked back sense!

i'm currently reading 3 at this moment :]

What about you guys??
One at a time, or lots at a time?? :]

Anyone doing any challenges on Goodreads next month?? :]
I promise to update about my standings more this month

The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer

Title: The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer
Series: Mara Dyer #1
Author: Michelle Hodkin
Format: Hardback, 466 pages
Rating: 4.5 stars
Time to Read: 2 days
Recommend it?: Yes :] for anyone who loves a good mystery and creepy good read :]

Goodread's Bio: Mara Dyer believes life can't get any stranger than waking up in a hospital with no memory of how she got there.
It can.
She believes there must be more to the accident she can't remember that killed her friends and left her strangely unharmed.
There is.
She doesn't believe that after everything she's been through, she can fall in love.
She's wrong.

My Review: First i must confess i went into this not even reading what it was about or having any kind of clue as to what it was about! crazy i know, but everyone was going cray cray over this and i saw it on my update feed at least once a week for the past 6 months, so i broke down and put a hold on it and got it :] which was the best plan ever!

Mara goes though some crazy things right off the bat. She wakes up in the hospital and finds out her "closest" friends have died in a terrible accident. she has no memory of what happened thou. you spend a good chunk of the book trying to figure that stuff out with her!

Mara has PTSD, so though out the book you get to see how that affects someone. i've never dealt with nor read anything involving PTSD so idk if how she acts is 100% true, but if it is, i feel crazy sad for anyone with this! She has crazy visions and hears things. She's being haunt by her dead friends.

And if you think that's all poor Mara has to deal with, think again! i won't post any kind of spoilers, but crazy things happen and even crazier things keep happening!

Mara is written very well. i love her. she's equal parts strong and sassy, i loved reading about her. Supporting characters of Daniel and Joesph, Mara's brothers, and her mom and dad are also written well and they have her back. Her mom is the supportive pillar in her life. Her dad is a lawyer who takes up a murder case and is getting threats! Daniel is playing the part of Big Brother amazing. Joesph is the weirdest awesomest little kid ever!

Love interest Noah!! Lets just say i would leave my real boyfriend for this fictional man!

The last few pages were crazy and i reread the court room scene a bunch of times!

The ending was the best twist i could've thought of and i legit was driven a little mad trying to think how it could go in the next book!

Overall i'm very pleased with the book and i am very much looking forward to the next in the series.

Weekend TBR :]

Today is my boyfriends birthday :]
so i'll be a little busy this weekend, but i really want to read Alice in Zombieland!

Goals for this weekend:

  1. Alice in Zombieland - hoping to start and finish this
  2. Through the Zombie Glass - hoping to start this and hopefully get half way done :]
  3. Ashes - reading this as an e-book so i'm hoping to get this one done

Anyone read any of my TBRs for this weekend?? :]
What are you hoping to start/finish/get into this weekend??

Broken Hearts, Fences, and Other Things to Mend

Title: Broken Hearts, Fences, and Other Things to Mend
Series: Broken Hearts & Revenge #1
Author: Katie Finn
Format: Hardback, 339 pages
Rating: 4 stars
Time to Read: 2 days
Recommend it?: Yes, for anyone into chick lit, and those who like a good revenge :]

Goodread's Bio: Gemma had her summer all planned out, but it takes a sharp turn when she gets dumped and finds herself back in the Hamptons after a five-year absence.

Being there puts her at risk of bumping into Hallie, her former best friends (that is, before Gemma ruined her life). But people don't hold grudges forever. Do they?

Gemma intends on making amends, but a small case of mistaken identity causes the people she knew years ago—including Hallie and her dreamy brother, Josh—to believe she's someone else. As though the summer wasn't complicated enough already

My Review: aw revenge, a girls dream come true. I liked this book very much. I’ve had my fair share of moments where I wished I could ruin anothers life. Gemma is just more brave than I because I never could go though with it.

Gemma ruins her “best friends” life in order to save her family, but of course it goes wrong, hey when doesn’t it. She then gets a second chance later in life to fix what she messed up. She does try her hardest too :]

I just loved Gemma she is a clumsy, totally relatable character. I cringed along with her as various things decided to not go her way throughout the story.

The last few pages had me thou! I didn’t see that coming at all, and I must say I am not looking forward to waiting for the next one! Be here nowwww!!!!

Goodread's Bio: Humanity has been decimated by a violent new species that nests in any enclosed spaces, and slaughters everything unfortunate enough to come indoors. Mitch is a 'Wall Banger', an explosives expert who 'cracks' buildings, exposing them to air and sunlight to kill these invasive organisms. When a friend of Mitch's asks for help tracking down a murderer, Mitch recruits Cori, a 'Shadow Runner' who races through infested spaces to gather supplies and saleable loot. But this terrifying contagion isn't the only danger, as their world descends into a harrowing marathon against oversupplied militias, murderous gangs, self-righteous survivors, and all-out starvation.

My Review: The plot behind this was very interesting. I'm not sure how i would do forever having to not be allowed into a enclosed space in fear of getting killed!

The main character, Mitchell, was a relateable character. I was confused on how old he was throughout the book.

Supporting characters, Darren and Cori, were well written and i was hoping for some romance between Mitch and Cori!

There was some spelling and grammar errors, but nothing too major.

Overall a very good book, i was really wanting it to be way longer thou. it has a very promising story :]
