Best Part: The action scenes were well detailed.
Worst Part: Some parts were too rushed for my liking.
Overall Feels Felt: Meh.; Hmmm...; Oh that wasn't good.
Conclusion
Continuing the Series: yes
Recommending: yah
Misc.: There are some gore scenes.
Short Review: Okay, i went into the this book with highhhhhhhhhh hopes, which weren't meet. First this will contain spoilers, i need to make a point and spoilers are needed.
This book could be called "Hunger Games: Royalty Edition"
I didn't realize this until about 70% in. But then the more i thought about it the more i felt it was true.
Example A: Girl of low "blood" is thrown into the spotlight and has to do what the "leader" tells her or she will die, or her love ones will die.
Example B: Where the nation thought was useless lands, the rebellion is using as a base camp.
Example C: Girl is saved from an arena.
Example D: Girl is torn between two boys that are from the same area, and social status. She is forced onto one, but has feelings for the other.
It just gave off a very Hunger Games vibe but with a King instead of a President. Maybe it was just me thou.

YES YES I totally agree with you on your thoughts! The resemblance between this book and The Hunger Games is terrifying, but maybe if we read Red Queen before THG we would've given it a much much higher rating.
ReplyDeleteI personally loved it despite the repetitiveness of dystopians and the resemblance to THG. Great review though! :)♥

YAY, i'm not crazy, someone else thought it too!!!! :)
DeleteYes i agree, if i never read hunger games, this would have been an easy 5 stars, but it just kept bothering me.
I loved the story, i might raise it once i calm down! Guess we'll see how book 2 goes down, that was be the defying point for me.
Thanks for visiting :D
I’ve seen a lot of mixed reviews about this book. I still want to read it, though.
