Top Ten Tuesday!! (4)

Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created at The Broke and the Bookish.

This week's Top 10 Topic:

Top 10 Things I Dislike/Like about Romances in Books!

I highly doubt i can think of 10, so lets do top 3 of each!!

DISLIKES!!!

1. Insta-Love

I hate this in books. Hey i just met you and know zero about you, but yet i love you like my life depends on it.
This doesn't happen in real life, unless i've been doing love wrong, which could be the case.

2. Triangles!

Which boy is the right boy?!
I have read very few books that haven't included two love interest.

3. I Trust You With Everything!

Before checking to make sure the MC should trust someone, they just trust them with everything. They tell them everything, the good, the bad, every secret they ever had.
Stop that!

LIKES!!!

1. Slow Build Up!

You don't fall in love in 3 days, so you shouldn't fall in love in 10 pages.
Slow building is the best building!

2. Show Your Imperfections!

I hate hate hate when the love interests are shown as perfect! I love when they're written with some imperfections and the MC actually has to deal with it and still loves them anyhow!

3. Happily Ever After, Heck No!

This might be a weird one, but i actually like when the relationship doesn't work out, but they're still okay in the end :]
Might not be the happily ever after some wanted, but it's nice to see that it doesn't always need to end with them going off into the sun set :]

So there you have it :]

What are you thoughts?!

  1. Yes to slow burns! I can't believe I forgot that one!

  2. Slow buildup to a relationship is the best. It's not realistic when two people just meet and already are proclaiming they've got some magical, epic love story for the ages.

  3. Slow buildups are perfect <3 insta-love will either have me putting the book down or begrudgingly continuing but never truly supporting the romance... not good! Great post though :)

  5. Ooooh I can't believe I forgot the trust thing! I hate it when that happens in books too. You shouldn't trust someone who hasn't proved themselves to be trustworthy!
Slow build up romances are awesome, and they seem to mean a lot more than any other kind.

    1. Right! You think they would have some common sense to not go telling everyone everything within a few mins of meeting them

  7. Aww, Boy Meets World <3 And seriously, what is wrong with the trusting people? I mean, after a date or two, they're spilling mafia secrets. Idiots. Great list, I agree with these for sure :)
